Peter Frederick Heringa 1859-1946

Peter Frederick Heringa Click on the link to see a picture taken of him (he is on the right) in front of the Riverview Hotel in Rio Vista with some hunting friends) was the oldest of Jan Heringa's children ahd he was also born in Oppenhuezen, Holland. When the family left the Netherlands in 1868 he was nine years old. He was a car painter, builder and Engineer for the Western Pacific Railroad in Sacramento. He was also a volunteer fireman for the Sacramento Fire Department, Eurek Engine Company No. 2. There is a copy of the fire department picture in the Family Gallery as well as the link above. Grandpa is the 5 person starting on the left and the middle row.

He then took an appointment from the governor of California at which he remained until after Lawrence Heringer Sr. was born. He leased a hotel and bar in Locke, Hood or Isleton before buying the Riverview Hotel in Rio Vista. The year that the portrait on this page was taken is unknown by me. Peter Heringa had white hair very early in life. He enjoyed hunting as you can see in the photo link above and the one to the right. Back when this picture to the right was made, there was no limit as you can tell. Anything on this level of our page menu is either about descendents of Peter Heringea or any of the family of descendents of Peter Heringa
