Joseph Heringa 1861-1912

         "Joseph Heringer, was born 6 Oct 1861, Oppenhuezen, Holland, came to California with his parents in 1868. He married 29 Aug 18859 to Martha, Tromp, born 5 Mar 1866, Nyeta, Holland, who came to California about 1882. Mr., Heringer farmed close to the area now occupied by Mather Field, Sacramento County. In 1901 he moved his family to Clarksburg, Yolo County and farmed in Marritt Island Reclamation District until 1906, When he bought a farm in the Lisbon Reclamation District, four miles north of Clarksburg, on the Sacramento River, and made this the family home. Mr., Heringer and his sons, John and Stephen had a dairy and farmed the land to hay, grain, alfalfa and some row crops. All children of Joseph and Martha Heringer were born in Sacramento County, California." (Information supplied from George Holmes, The Five Families.)
